Last weekend we made our first trip back to Perth since we moved to Exmouth. We left late Wednesday night, after Dave finished work, and drove until about midnight. We slept in swags (I borrowed one) south of Billabong Roadhouse. We made it to Armadale in the early afternoon, and saw Dave's mum, then did as much shopping as we could. I drove to Carousel to catch up with Trudy and go bridesmaid dress shopping with Lisa and Naomi. It seems green isn't in this season, or the next...
Friday was shopping all day- a filing cabinet, shoes, clothes, work boots for Dave, a swag for me...
Saturday morning was Tim and Trudy's engagement party- a somewhat chilly morning, but beautiful- heaps of people. We caught up with Dave's grandma for lunch, then with Dave's previous Uni supervisor. That night we had a mother's day dinner with Evelyn and Ian, and with Linda and Dave. Linda and Dave are expecting their first baby in October!
Armadale Congregational Church was first thing Sunday morning, then we packed the car and went to have lunch with Sheno & Kat, then did a bit more shopping (Bunnings!), and caught up with our old house church crew to hear Jarrod McKenna speak at Riverview. After dinner we drove to a campsite north of Eneabba, and drove the remainder on Monday.
Coming back to the caravan at the farm felt like home. It was great to catch up with everyone but we've gotten used to the quiet life here in Exmouth! A traffic jam is more than one emu in the road, sunrise over the beach and sunset over the ranges... I didn't think of how much this was home until we left and came back to it.
