Last of the Watermelons

The last watermelon- nearly 6 kilos (13 lbs).


Asher enjoyed it. His newest discovery is the idea that things bounce. Watermelon doesn't bounce, but he did try it a few times.

I posted a while back about our garden and the watermelons we were growing. We harvested our first one last week! It was so juicy it burst open when we cut into it.




This watermelon was 4.0 kilos, or 8.8 pounds...



It was so juicy and yummy and sweet! Good job Dave!

We have a camera again

Our (good) camera broke in the US and our laptop died upon arrival home in Exmouth.

So... we arrived home from the US safe and sound. Asher had another sore throat, but is feeling better. The garden is looking great. Here are a few photos of life at the moment:

Baby Watermelon

The garden. Dave has attempted to kangaroo-proof it, using chicken wire, bird netting, branches, etc. I am looking forward to eating our produce! Good job, Dave!

The Garden

Last year we accidentally self-seeded a tomato plant. This year we decided to have a proper garden. Dave took a bobcat to the pindan and dug out a garden, and put in soil. We have corn and watermelons, capsicum (bell peppers), tomatoes, eggplant, and some other things I don't remember (Dave will remind me soon).

It is a rather small garden, which we attempted to fence off from the kangaroos, echidnas (my spell check would like to correct that to enchiladas), rabbits, etc. That is our rainwater tank behind the garden.
