Keren, Simon, and Veronica Visits

Keren, Simon and his fiancee Veronica came up for almost a week. We had lots of fun!

We went snorkelling, twice! The first day was at Turquoise Bay. There was a lot to see…


A cute little red jellyfish. Since you look down while you snorkel, often you miss them right near you. Then you look up and see


Uh oh! Lots of jellyfish. I found out the second time we went snorkelling that they do sting, but not too much. I had dramatic-looking red welts from my ear down my neck and across my chest after i left the water, but that cleared up quickly. I deleted that photo.



Veronica did well, especially considering she couldn’t swim! Simon’s a good teacher. The second day of snorkelling we saw heaps more… and I got a bit more intimately acquainted with the cute little red jellyfish! Ouch!

We also played minigolf.

We saw this echidna wandering down the road. Don’t you just want to pick him up and cuddle him? Me neither.

The Lamb Enters the Dreaming

Dave just finished reading The Lamb Enters the Dreaming: Nathanael Pepper and the Ruptured World by Robert Kenny.

He says:

It's about an early Aboriginal convert to Christianity (Nathaniel Pepper) in Victoria and the context in which he converted. Despite writing from a non-Christian perspective, the author presents evangelical Christianity in the 19th century in a positive light, as an agent standing against the excesses of colonialism rather than one of being a culture destroyer as is suggested by many people today. It has some good discussion on culture, Jesus not just being for white people, and some useful lessons for missions. I'd recommend it.
