How to play football like a 2 year old

This is how to play football like a 2 year old...

First you get Grandpa to throw the ball...

And then you try to throw it back.

In any way possible...

Using both hands if necessary...

And sometimes in the wrong direction.

And you have to have just the right magic moves...

 And if that doesn't work try levitating the ball with the power of your mind.

And it always helps to wear two different shoes.

Easter Egg Hunt March 23

Eggies!

Today was the community wide Easter Egg hunt- Asher's first Easter egg hunt ever. Yesterday we let him practice in the backyard so he'd at least have an idea of what to do. (He picked them up and threw them at me like balls yesterday).

They divided up the field into ages, with eggs spread in each, and a line dividing the sections. The 0-2 group's eggs were closer to the fence, and each subsequent age group's eggs were spread further out, with the oldest group's eggs hidden throughout trees.

 All the groups started at the same time. Asher really enjoyed finding eggs and putting them in the basket.

 And then he discovered that there were things inside the eggs! And then he had to shake and open each egg and examine its' contents. So the egg hunting progressed a bit more slowly then.

 And he enjoyed it. When we got home we opened all the eggs, I let him have some chocolate and then I hid the rest of the chocolate from him. So far he seems to have forgotten about it, thankfully. I don't know if I am stricter than usual in terms of food, but he doesn't get chocolate to eat. Or candy or lollipops. Or whatever. TV is the thing I let slide, as a stay-at-home and temporarily single mom, it is the one thing that gives me a break when I am with Asher all day every day. But that's another story!

I haven't been to any Easter Egg hunts as an adult or a mom, so I have no basis of comparison, but I found this one to be well organized. There were lots of eggs, more than enough for each child (though I heard some moms, with kids' baskets overflowing, disagree). Asher didn't care at all for the 'Easter Bunny' so no photos of that. We were able to find a parking spot facing the field so Mom didn't have to leave the car on that cold and wet morning to watch.

Did you notice the liner for the basket? I whipped that up in about 20 minutes, and if you don't look too closely it looks fantastic! I wanted to brighten up his Easter basket. Filling it up with eggs covers all the flaws!

Blinking, hiccups, and eating sprinkles: video

This video requires a bit of explanation... Asher had finished his dinner and was eating yogurt with sprinkles (balls) on top. He calls eating "um" (from when we were trying to get him to eat, we'd exaggerate eating, and taking bites, "um!").

He didn't want his yogurt so I was eating it, dipping sliced strawberries in it. He was telling me to "um more balls" (eat more sprinkles). When he said um he would blink deliberately. We all found that funny, and he got the giggles...

Cooking: Whole Wheat Cheddar Crackers

Today Asher and I made whole wheat cheddar crackers. They were easy! For Asher, it was like playing with play doh.

We treated the dough like playdoh and a rolling pin and cookie cutters (we have a box of 100+, so I chose a circle, star and car.

Baking soda and vinegar- play

Vinegar in food coloring in a glass, in a tray.
Spoon.
Baking soda in spice shaker.
Fun!

February Asherisms

Asher managed to get my stick deodorant's lid off and applied it to his armpit- on his shirt!

When he really wants something or wants to do something, he puts his name in front of it and pronounces it with concentration... Asher water! Asher on! (Asher wants to turn the light on). Asher Raaarrr (Asher's dinosaur).

He put on my gardening gloves and wandered around the backyard trying to pick things up with them.

~

He would prefer me NOT to sing... he says no, no, no and pats my leg. If he is out of reach he waves his hand at me, no no no!

The last few nights at bedtime, as we are reading, Asher would ask for "lalalala." I had no clue what he was talking about! He'd just say, "lalalala" over and over again until I distracted him. Today I figured out he was asking for this book, Moo Baa Laa Laa Laa.
     "A cow says MOO."
     "A sheep says BAA."
     "Three singing pigs say LA LA LA!"
     "'No, no!' you say, 'that isn't right.
     The pigs say OINK all day and night.'"
 Asher does all the animal noises (including the La La La)!

He definitely knows blue. If you ask him which is the blue one. he will definitely get it right. But... toddler style... since he hasn't worked out the names of the other colors, he will call them blue, too.

Today he asked, "Where is the blue?" It was up to us to figure out what blue thing it was. He was looking for the blue party blower thing that came in Mom's birthday flower arrangement. That blue.

New game- We each have sticks. We throw the sticks into the bush. I retrieve them. Repeat.

Asher watching bugs in the backyard: The bug crawls under a leaf, Asher says "bye bye!" The bug crawls back out, Asher is in fits of giggles and clapping.

I found Asher laying on his back in the backyard today, trying to convince the dog to do the same so he could pat his belly. Speaking of which, the dog lets Asher feed him pecans.
