It is hard to get a good photo of a toddler!

What Asher has been up to-

• interacting with people on Skype... showing them books, toys, etc... and trying to give them high-fives!
• whispering
• speaking in sentences. He's been able to mimic sentences for ages (one of his first words was 'whassat'- what's that) but he's recently putting together his own sentences- "wezza boobum"- where's the balloon, "is a moo"- its a cow (moo).
• loves, loves, loves planes and can spot them in the sky before I can!
• he has become quite slender- I am taking in all of his shorts. I got rid of many shorts that were too small for him when we were in Perth... I wish I hadn't!
• enjoys setting the table. I drew place settings on some placemats I picked up from the op shop, and Dave will carry him around the table and hand him things to put down. When he's eating at the table (for dinner) he will put things back in his proper place.
• he likes putting things where they don't go, saying 'no,' and then putting them in their proper places (puzzles, table settings, etc). He also uses 'no' for 'none.'
• despite all of our prompting, he doesn't say yes much! If you ask him a yes/no question where the answer is positive, he'll say 'please.' As in, "Do you want some milk?" And he'll say "Please."
• the problems with eating food seem like a distant memory. It is amazing how much this child can eat! Or not eat, depending on the day.
• No walking, just running. Or hopping. I think he might be trying to skip, even.
• He usually ends up taking a book to bed with him, in his cot. Or a toy car.
• Asher has been to the beach every afternoon since we have been back to Exmouth. A few days ago a man was riding a horse down the beach, and the horse pood nearby... Asher was fascinated! We had to go investigate, and the he'd point at the horse and then at the poo and exclaimed "poo!"
• Speaking of which, Asher thinks horses go moo.
• Likes being showered by Dave and put to bed by me. 
• Is testing boundaries in little toddler ways, for example, instead of bringing a book to read before bed (after he's been asked to get a book), he might bring a toy car. Actually he's been trying this one a lot. Or tries to take books into the shower, etc. 
• Thinks masking tape is stickers. Cheap stickers!
• Gets to choose his shoes, and knows which shoes belong with which activity (sandals- beach, etc.) If he wants to go to the beach, he'll go find everyone's shoes to make sure we get the hint.
• he has to play on the verandah barefoot, or he'll take off towards the farm or the beach!
• Can use all of his cutlery reasonably accurately, and prefers his fork the most.
• Can recognize the letters A and S, and sometimes T. He'll point out the letter A if he sees it in print.
• Can count to four, but often forgets the number one and repeats two and three a few times before he gets to four.
• He's getting much more independent when walking, and more adventerous, too.
• He still loves books, and loves going to the library to pick out books.

Water, sand, sunglasses... what more could a toddler want?
